As part of our goal to drive to corporate sustainability across all our functions and services we are proud to announce that we have joined the Global Compact.
The Global Compact was proposed in the late 1990s by UN secretary-general Kofi Annan in response to widespread concerns about the negative impact of corporate business practices on human rights, workers’ rights, and the environment. The Global compact was announced at the January 1999 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), to bring business, labour, and civil society together around ethical principles and standards.
The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative — transforming businesses and raising ambitions towards the achievement of societal goal.
The UN Global Compact is a founding member of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative along with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
